Cranes in Gallocanta
Gallocanta is an endorheic lagoon that every year hosts tens of thousands of Common Cranes during migration. We spend the day visiting different observation points, from where we can watch a wide variety of wildfowl.
We travel mainly by car, with occasional short walks. From the viewpoints, we may spot groups of Great Bustards, Wild Boar and other ungulates. At sunset, Short-eared Owls are sometimes seen hunting, while enormous flocks of cranes gather at their roosts — an unforgettable spectacle.
